Given his deep educational background, advanced training and 12 years of experience, Dr. Thorbole is an expert in injury biomechanics, occupant protection, crashworthiness, and automotive accident and injury prevention analysis. His experience includes providing accident and injury analysis consulting services to manufacturers in the automotive and aircraft industries as well as automotive injury biomechanics and accident analysis training to the engineers of a leading automotive manufacturer and research institute. Dr. Thorbole co-authored Head Up Display design guidelines with the FAA and contributed off-road vehicle injury prevention analysis to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in association with the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Research Institute. Currently, he is collaborating with NATRiP, a Government of India Agency responsible for conducting traffic accident analysis. In addition, Dr. Thorbole is assisting a team of engineers responsible for designing a retrofit seatbelt system for buses by evaluating and optimizing the system’s crash performance. He holds two patents for automotive seatbelt design with another one pending.
