Experience

A Chartered Marine Engineer and Registered Marine Surveyor, Mr. Poulson has 40 years of experience in marine engineering, surveying, consulting, claims, and loss prevention. During his career, Mr. Poulson headed marine casualty investigation, claims and loss prevention survey companies as well as served as a  surveyor  for  more  than  two  decades,  working  directly  on  major  casualties  involving  collisions,  fire,  groundings and machinery failures. His internationally diverse portfolio includes coordination and oversight of worldwide surveying operations, particularly in the Americas but also surveys and projects in Europe, West Africa and the Middle East. Mr. Poulson also served as a seagoing engineer, and as Chief Engineer,  managed  ship’s  engineering  personnel  and  all  main  and  auxiliary  machinery  plants.  He  also  assisted in managing shore-­‐based technical operations, including preparing drydock and repair specifications.  In  addition  to  a  master’s  degree  in  maritime  studies,  Mr.  Poulson  holds  multiple  certifications from the U.K. Department of Transportation. He has worked as an expert witness on cases in the United States, Canada, Panama, South America, Europe and the United Kingdom.
