Ms. Susan Blaser has nearly 25 years of experience in utility power pole work and safety. Her extensive background includes ‘in-the-field’ work as a lineman/splicer which involved response to dangerous and unsafe conditions with responsibility in making emergency situations safe and secure for public safety. This experience lead to management of lineman crews which included risk assessment and communication to those directly working on lines. During her career with a major power and light company Ms. Blaser developed curriculum for training purposes of company specifications and standards. Apprentice training in job proficiency of journey linemen was a primary responsibility of Ms. Blaser’s.
Her experience in the industry includes installation, repair and maintenance of equipment involving 4,000-345,000 volts circuits. Responsibilities included new construction, repair of service, and storm restoration. Due to her extensive work experience, Ms. Blaser has been responsible for design and development of field and classroom curriculum for lineman craft positions; programs which reduced/eliminated occupational injuries and illnesses; and training programs in accident prevention.
Ms. Blaser has been responsible to maintain knowledge of PPE, HAZCOME, Confined Space, Lock-Out / Tag-Out, Hold Procedure and other OSHA General Industry standards. She has a general knowledge of OSHA, DOT and EPA rules and regulations in addition to applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.
