Experience

A Certified Forensic Consultant, Dr. Skaer has more than 30 years of pharmaceutical experience. She is a licensed pharmacist in three states, and serves as Professor of Pharmacotherapy at Washington State University. She specializes in medication and illicit substance monitoring, including pharmacokinetics, toxicology, and pharmacology, as well as medication reactions and interactions. During her career, Dr. Skaer has been awarded more than $3.2 million in research support, funding nearly 40 projects in her areas of expertise. In addition to authoring or co-authoring more than 200 peer-reviewed technical, research and scholarly articles, abstracts and textbook chapters, Dr. Skaer has served as a reviewer and editorial board member for numerous medical journals. She has presented her work to medical groups and conferences around the world and served as an expert consultant and witness for plaintiffs and defendants on cases involving chronic pain, narcotic use, opioid overdose, and medication-related adverse reactions, interactions and suicide, among other topics.
