EXPERIENCE:

Mr. Sciortino’s extensive management and organizational experience in the fields of forensic engineering and construction contribute to his professional business approach in his work as a Civil Engineer.   After completing his Civil Engineering degree at the University of Utah, Mr. Sciortino was commissioned an officer in the United States Marine Corp during which time he managed the EPA and OSHA programs for 16,000 personnel and supervised all Safety and Environmental personnel within his division.     After a 4 year military career, Mr. Sciortino, holding the rank of Captain, entered the civilian workforce in construction management. 

As principal engineer for a land development firm, Mr. Sciortino designed subdivision and commercial layouts, engineered all paving & grading, potable water, sanitary and storm sewers, storm water management, and irrigation plans.   He has performed predevelopment boundary and elevation surveys, cost estimation for each development, and conducted field inspections to verify quality construction.    Mr. Sciortino’s experience includes working with governing municipalities involving development plans, land use amendments, and rezoning applications while representing builders at all municipal staff, commission, council, and public hearings.   He has been responsible for coordinating with various municipal utility districts for water use, fire safety requirements, sewage disposal, and installation of electrical service infrastructure.

Mr. Sciortino’s has extensive experience conducting forensic structural examinations, analysis and report composition.   He has examined hundreds of structures, identifying cause, origin, and extent of various types of damage.  His familiarity with current and historical building codes has resulted in identification of design and construction defects.   Some of  Mr. Sciortino’s work includes evaluating foundations, structural members, various roof systems, and  analysis of watershed drainage systems.

While focused on value engineering for a top 20 national builder, Mr. Sciortino has been very involved with engineering structural plans resulting in substantial cost savings.  Structural engineering encompassed all framing and roof plans, hanger schedules and lintel sizing.
